Development Projects

The Port Authority of Kansas City, Missouri is charged with economic development throughout the City of Kansas City. Currently, the Port Authority is managing three significant development projects:

  1. Riverfront Redevelopment Site: The Port Authority is working to develop a 55-acre tract of waterfront land into an urban, sustainable, mixed-use development. Current plans project the development might consist of a variety of residential units, retail and office space, a hotel and cultural venues.
  2. Riverfront West: Riverfront West consists of several projects that will enable Kansas Citians to enjoy where the city of Kansas City originated and the waterfront facilities.
  3. Former Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base: The Port Authority is overseeing the conversion of the 1,400-acre former Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base into an international trade-processing center and intermodal freight gateway. The project includes the Centerpoint-KCS Intermodal Freight Gateway and a Hunt Midwest underground development.
